Charlie and the Chocolate Factory 2016-02-16

Another Roald Dahl classic. May a times, you wouldn't care about a poor English child of about 10 years. Until you live in the story and get the news that he has one of the priceless things of all time. Something which could earn you the biggest factory in the world. Something described a hundred times better in the book. Interested? So will you be when you read it. Roald Dahl takes everyone inside that web of words, that great and matchless description and the plot. You just don't want to put it down. I suggest just don't. It is only a mindful of pages, or, can I say mid-boggling ones?

charlie and the chocolate factory 2016-02-27

Mr. Willy Wonka, the owner of the Wonka chocolate factory, has decided to open the doors of his factory to five children and their parents. In order to choose who will enter the factory, Mr. Wonka hides five golden tickets in the wrappers of his Wonka chocolate bars. The search for the five golden tickets is fast and furious. The first four golden tickets are found by the gluttonous Augustus Gloop, the spoiled and petulant Veruca Salt, the gum-addicted Violet Beauregarde, and TV obsessed Mike Teavee. A boy named Charlie Bucket lives in poverty in a tiny house with his parents and four grandparents. His grandparents share the only bed in the house, located in the only bedroom. Charlie and his parents sleep on mattresses on the floor. Once a year, on his birthday, Charlie gets one bar of Wonka chocolate, which he keeps over many months. One day, Charlie sees a fifty-pence coin buried in the snow. He decides to use a little of the money to buy himself some chocolate before turning the rest over to his mother. After unwrapping the first bar of chocolate, Charlie decides to buy one more and finds the fifth golden ticket. The next day is the date that Mr. Wonka has set for his guests to enter the factory. In the factory, Charlie and Grandpa Joe enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of the factory, and also encounter the Oompa Loompas who have been helping Wonka operate the factory. The other kids are ejected from the factory in mysterious and painful fashions. Augustus Gloop falls into the hot chocolate river when he wants to drink it, and he is sucked up by one of the pipes. Violet Beauregarde impetuously grabs an experimental piece of gum and chews herself into a giant blueberry. Veruca Salt is determined to be a "bad nut" by nut-judging squirrels who throw her out with the trash. Lastly, the television lover, Mike Teavee, shrinks himself into a tiny size. With only Charlie remaining, Willy Wonka congratulates him for "winning" the factory and becomes Wonka's successor. They ride the great glass elevator to Charlie's house, and bring the rest of Charlie's family to the factory.

charlie and chocolate factory 2016-08-15

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a 2005 British-American musical fantasy film directed by Tim Burton. The screenplay by John August is the second adaptation of the 1964 British book of the same name by Roald Dahl. The film stars Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka and Freddie Highmore as Charlie Bucket. The storyline concerns Charlie, who takes a tour he has won, led by Wonka, through the most magnificent chocolate factory in the world. Development for another adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, filmed previously as Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, began in 1991, 20 years after the first film version, which resulted in Warner Bros. providing the Dahl Estate with total artistic control. Prior to Burton's involvement, directors such as Gary Ross, Rob Minkoff, Martin Scorsese and Tom Shadyac had been involved, while Warner Bros. either considered or discussed the role of Willy Wonka with Bill Murray, Nicolas Cage, Jim Carrey, Michael Keaton, Brad Pitt, Will Smith, Adam Sandler, and many others. Burton immediately brought regular collaborators Depp and Danny Elfman aboard. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory represents the first time since The Nightmare Before Christmas that Elfman contributed to the film score using written songs and his vocals. Filming took place from June to December 2004 at Pinewood Studios in the United Kingdom, where Burton avoided using digital effects as much as possible. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was released to critical praise and was a box office success, grossing approximately $475 million worldwide

Charlie And The Chocolate Factory 2016-10-25

Rarely, if ever, has a morality tale been dressed up in such an entertaining story. Roald Dahl clearly has a point to make here, but never does the reader feel he is preaching; he's just reveling in giving spoiled kids their most perfectly just comeuppance. Dahl has peopled these pages with some highly memorable bad children, and readers everywhere love to laugh with glee at their crazy behavior -- and its consequences. In the best fairy tale tradition, Dahl doesn't hide the fact that the world can be a grim and unfair place. Charlie's depressing life of poverty at the beginning of the novel reflects this bleak view. But, also in the best fairy tale tradition, Dahl appeals to the strong sense of natural justice in children, and invites them to revel in a marvelously imagined world where people, both good and bad, get exactly what they deserve. It's also a place where they make "eatable marshmallow pillows," "hot ice cream for cold days," "fizzy lifting drinks" that make you float, and "rainbow drops" that let you "spit in six different colours." And, in the end, it's just the place for Charlie.

Love dis book!!!! 2016-11-21

Charlie and the chocolate factory is the most innovative and imaginary book. I mean the thought and the ideas are simply superb. Roald Dahl is one of the greatest children author the world has known. According to the author, Willy Wonka's factory includes a chocolate river, a chocolate waterfall, pipes which suck up the molten chocolate from the river, many oompa loompas (the small dwarf like humans who work in the factory), a number of squirrels who crack nuts, an elevator which an go about in any direction and so much more...... This book has so much of fun hidden in it's pages. Roald Dahl has penned down so many imaginary things in this book which are impossible to think about.... luv dis book!!!!

Charlie Bucket, the unsuspecting hero of the book, defies all odds in claiming the fifth and final ticket. A poor but virtuous boy, Charlie lives in a tiny house with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bucket, and all four of his grandparents.when Charlie’s father is laid off from his low-paying job as a result of automation, there is no unemployment check to fend off impending starvation. However, the anachronistic impoverishment only serves to underline Charlie’s love for chocolate and the seeming... The whole stinkin' factory. Mr. Wonka wants someone to take over for him when he gets old and he chooses Charlie. That's right, the whole factory is his! They shoot through the roof on the glass elevator, go get Charlie's family, and bring them back to the factory, where they'll never go hungry again.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory 2017-09-05

150 Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a classic children's book about five kids who win a chance to tour Willy Wonka's mysterious candy-making operation. It's a vividly told wild ride with amusing, cartoon-like sketches that will keep kids excited and laughing. Various forms of bad behavior are demonstrated -- but the punishments perfectly fit the crimes. The main character also lives a life of poverty that's portrayed as bleak and depressing, although the love between him and his family makes their day-to-day struggles more bearable. The book was adapted for a film titled Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory in 1971, and made into a movie titled Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, starring Johnny Depp, in 2005. That same year, it was released as an audiobook read by Monty Python member Eric Idle, which is loads of fun.
