Invaded (An Alienated Novel) by Melissa Landers 2016-02-27

In the first novel it was revealed that Earth has been scouted by an advanced alien culture from another galaxy. The L'eihrs require human DNA to rejuvenate their people and wish to form an alliance to bring human colonists to their planet for that purpose. As a result of contact with the L'eihr, Earth's water has inadvertently been contaminated by a super algae that will eventually destroy all the oceans and make the planet uninhabitable. Most humans are not aware of this impending catastrophe nor that the L'eihr have the technology to decontaminate the water. This fact is being hidden by the governments on Earth. The L'eihr will only provide the technology if Earth forms an alliance with them. The novel ends with Cara having learned Aelyx's (along with Eron and Syrine) role in trying to sabotage the alliance by planting a parasitic tree, sh'alear, which destroyed nearby crops. When she is brought before The Way, who are the L'eihr Elders, Cara meets the two newest and youngest leaders, Jaxen and Aisly. Jaxen tells her that despite the murder of Eron and the violence against Syrine and Aelyx, the alliance negotiations will continue, Syrine and Aelyx are to be sent back to Earth to regain the human trust and work for the alliance and Cara is to accompany Jaxen and Aisly to L'eihr.

Invaded ,a good one , 2017-09-04

So, I’m so excited to do this book review! pre-ordered on our local bookstore after I finished the first book last September, This sequel was released last February 3 and I was all giddy and excited to read it but was turned out very disappointed because I had to wait for another 3 days before getting my hands on the book. And finally, when I got my copy, I didn’t waste any more time and I started devouring the story. God, I really love this series! There was never a dull moment on the entire book (or at least for me). It was just sad that the romance between Aelyx and Cara died a lot compared to that of Alienated. But while the Aelyx-Cara ship sunk a little, I liked how Landers improved the history of L’heir and it’s relationship to Earth on the other hand. There are so many details that sometimes I had to reread the same paragraph just to understand what the hell they’re talking about or where the conversation is going. Especially when Cara interviewed this L’heir researcher named Larish. , but well, I enjoyed it! I feel like I’m too intelligent while reading such scientific terms and stuffs. I also learned to love the supporting and the new characters, well *cough* David *cough* – Syrine and Troy’s characters improved a lot! And even if there’s not much Aelyx-Cara moments, I admired how Melissa Landers managed to keep at least a little flicker on the light of their relationship. And I also liked the Syrine and David new ship! They’re just too adorable! Sometimes, I even think that the new pair has already surpassed the Aelyx-Cara ship. Well, that’s because Aelyx and Cara were nowhere too near from each other on this entire book. It just so sad. When I was near the end, I still have a lot of unanswered questions in my mind. (Well, some parts are kinda predictable but I was wrong on the others.) I like Invaded a lot, but honestly, Alienated is still waaaaay better. What made Invaded fall down a little was the lack of Aelyx-Cara moment, which is what I was really looking forward from the very start. (I’m a little – so little – disappointed) But I’m still giving this 5 freakin’ stars! And while I love to have another sequel for the series, I am already satisfied on the ending of Invaded. And maybe, it was Melissa’s decision to let us, readers, be the one to picture or create Aelyx and Cara’s future, yeah?
