The divergent series 2015-09-05

The Divergent series are the best series ever published. This book not only tells us the importance of family but also teaches us to believe in ourself. I like Beatrice the most not because she is the main character because she is very practical but sometimes she is way too much practical. She loves her family more than anything and will do anything for them, even die. I also like Uriah, he is a very funny person, all his parts in the book are really good. He has great sense of humor and he is someone who you can call a true friend. Of course, I like Tobias also, he is so brave. He is a really sweet person on the inside but on the outside he acts like a rude person. All in all I loved ten series not only because of the action but also because of the storyline, Veronica Roth kept her focus on everybody and that is what makes her an amazing author. Love the Divergent Series.

it is an amazing fiction thriller. there is a trainer-tobais who comes across as a strict and disciplined person and a student-tris who is a carefree and stubborn girl in a faction(society) they have this rare case of divergence which is that they do not have the characteristics of any one faction like others slowly they fall in love and reveal to each other their secret of being divergent. one faction uses another to attack the government faction using a controlling serum which does not affect the divergent tris and tobais go to rescue tris's family which is one of the families in the government faction in the process of stopping the war- tris becomes an orphan and tobais meets his father who he had initially run away from in the end they manage to stop the war and run far away from the city in the end they have each other which is all that matters to them it portrays their life at the faction and how the two who are of different natures fall for each other veronica Roth has written an amazing masterpiece in this book it is the first book in the divergent trilogy. it is also a movie

Ms. Roth has build this book like a builder his building. Perfect, neat, straight. She has taken a thought into the future and thought how thoughts would be though tin the future. It suits us early teenagers well and engrosses them into the story. It builds on step by step, and so do the feelings. Anxiety, fear, friendship, happiness and baam! Bravery, presence of mind come into action. Adrenaline dilutes her blood and instincts take over the thoughts. The story goes on fast and it makes read the next book. I hope so will you! Book Review on Divergent(Veronica Roth) 2016-09-02

The debut novel byVeronica Roth, Divergent. That book introduced us to five factions of a dystopian society, and one brave girl named Tris, who decides to join the Dauntless. It's clear by the end of the book that she belongs to the group of Divergent, meaning that she could have belonged to any one of these factions with her personality traits. The book was everything a book should be: smart, philosophical, funny and sad in all the right places. Although the premise was a bit unlikely, the worldbuilding was first-rate, and I was able to willingly suspend my disbelief long enough to enjoy the book. However, there was something wrong with the ending. While a war between the factions was entirely likely, it just seemed a bit...rushed. Like the author had all of these cool things she wanted to write about and couldn't be bothered to wait until it made sense to introduce them, so she skipped all of the boring buildups and got right down to it. For the first half, it was. Roth took us to the other factions' compounds, and we got a glimpse of what their daily life is like. There were moments of raw beauty and power, like when Tris witnesses an Amity religious service, or when Tris and Tobias are interrogated by Candor. There were moments of chilling horror as well, like when a certain faction leader is executed. Those moments were when Roth's writing really shone.

Divergent 2016-09-07

In a post-apocalyptic Chicago, survivors are divided into five factions based on their dispositions: Abnegation, for the selfless; Amity, for the peaceful; Candor, for the honest; Dauntless, for the brave; and Erudite, for the intellectual. Each year, all sixteen-year-olds take an aptitude test that determines the faction for which they are best suited. After receiving the results, test takers choose a faction at the Choosing Ceremony, no matter what their results were. Those who do not complete initiation into their new faction become "factionless" and are forced to live in poverty on the streets of the city. Sixteen-year-old Beatrice Prior is born into an Abnegation family. She doesn't feel she belongs in Abnegation because she doesn't see herself as naturally selfless. Her aptitude test results are inconclusive and indicate aptitude for three factions – Abnegation, Erudite, and Dauntless. The test administrator warns her never to tell anyone that her results were inconclusive as this marks her as "Divergent". Beatrice agonizes over Choosing Day, unsure about staying in Abnegation with her parents or moving to a different faction. On Choosing Day, Beatrice decides to leave Abnegation and join Dauntless. Her brother Caleb chooses Erudite. The Dauntless instructor, Four, explains that not all Dauntless initiates will be allowed to enter the faction. The initiates will have to go through a series of training and evaluation. Unique to this faction, only the top ten initiates will stay, while the rest will be dismissed and become factionless; by contrast, the other factions allow everyone who complete initiation to enter. During her initiation, Beatrice renames herself Tris and befriends transfer initiates Christina, Al, and Will but comes into conflict with fellow initiates Peter, Drew, and Molly. She also befriends Dauntless-born initiates Uriah, Lynn, and Marlene. The Willis (or Sears) Tower, one of several landmarks Roth describes within post-apocalyptic Chicago, the novel's setting. Initiation into Dauntless is composed of three stages. The first involves learning how to handle guns and knives and hand-to-hand combat with other initiates. Tris lacks the physical strength of most of her fellow initiates but finishes in sixth place by beating the higher-ranked Molly. When the rankings for Stage 1 of initiation are announced, a jealous Peter, who finished second, stabs first-place Edward in the eye with a butter knife during the night. Edward then leaves Dauntless to be Factionless, and his girlfriend Myra follows him out of Dauntless. During Visiting Day, Tris learns that her mother's faction of origin was Dauntless. Erudite stirs dissent against the Abnegation leadership in the city's government and accuses Marcus, the Abnegation leader, of abusing his son. The fact that Marcus's son joined Dauntless two years before, and Tris' and Caleb's choices at the Choosing Ceremony, where they switched factions instead of remaining in Abnegation adds to the rumors. Abnegation is also alleged to be hoarding supplies meant to be sent out in the city. The initiates enter Stage 2 of their training, which involves simulations similar to the aptitude tests. Initiates are forced to face hallucinations based upon their deepest fears. The simulations act in a hypnotic fashion and initiates forget their situation isn't real. Tris' Divergent abilities enable her to remember that she's facing a simulation, not reality. She uses this advantage and wins top rank in the class. Peter, Drew, and Al attack Tris in revenge with a threatened sexual assault and attempt to kill her by throwing her into the chasm at Dauntless headquarters. Four intervenes and stops it. Later, Al begs for Tris's forgiveness, but she rebuffs him. He later commits suicide by jumping into the chasm where he tried to kill Tris. The final stage of Dauntless initiation gathers all their fears in a single simulation landscape. All the initiates, including the Divergents, are aware they are under a simulation and must use the skills they've learned in the previous stages to overcome each obstacle. Tris' relationship with Four continues to grow as she prepares for the last stage of testing, and he lets her into his own fear landscape. Four has four fears in his landscape, which is an uncommonly low number, hence his nickname. She also learns he is really Marcus' son Tobias, the child of the Abnegation leader the Erudites accused of child abuse. Four shares information with Tris that he discovered about Erudite's plans to use Dauntless to stage an attack on Abnegation. Tris successfully overcomes seven fears in her fear landscape. After her test, she and the other Dauntless members are injected with a new "tracking" serum that supposedly activates if someone goes missing. Before the official initiation ceremony, Four invites Tris back to his private apartment, and Tris expresses her feelings for him. The ceremony begins with the post of

The book Divergent is the first book of the trilogy written by Veronica Roth. The book’s genre is seated in a dystopian type. The action and thriller in book is graciously written. While the plot of the story is twisted and turned which interest the readers. Set in a futuristic dystopia where society is divided into five factions- Abnegation the selfless, Dauntless the brave, Erudite the intelligent, Candor the honest, and Amity the peaceful. Each represent a different virtue. When all teenagers reach the age of 16, must choose to either stay in their faction of birth, or transfer into another faction for the rest of their lives. Tris Prior makes a choice that surprises everyone. Tris and her fellow faction-members live through a highly competitive initiation process to live out the choice they have made. They undergo extreme physical and intense psychological tests, that transform them all. Tris’ awareness during the stimulations make her different from every one. It makes her Divergent. The Erudite’s leader Jeanine wants to overthrow the Abnegation government. Jeanine does so by stimulating the dauntless initiates and dauntless born. Some who were divergent did not get affected by the stimulation serum. Now unrest surges in the factions around her as the conflict between their ideologies grows. Tris has paid the price of survival and is wracked by the haunting guilt of killing Will. The twist and plots in the book fascinates me and captives the reader.

EXCITING 2017-04-20

Parents need to know that this dystopian teen novel is the first of a trilogy. It includes the markers of the genre, including fantasy violence, a fractured society, Big Brother-esque monitoring, as well as romance. The 16-year-old protagonist chooses to live in the "brave" faction, where members routinely try to out-do each other physically and recklessly act like daredevils to prove their fearlessness. The initiation process is brutal and bloody, and kills or seriously injures a few characters. Violence escalates as the end of the book approaches, culminating in a blood bath. The romance is sweet and progresses from lingering looks to a few kissing sessions, but there's no sex and characters express fear of going too far, too fast. Like The Hunger Games heroine Katniss Everdeen, Tris Prior is a strong, generous, and beautifully flawed female protagonist. She uses some devices that fans of dystopian novels will recognize -- a compartmentalized society, a misfit protagonist, dangerous secrets, and a cliffhanger ending -- but still manages to create an unstoppable plot that's remarkably original. Tris is a refreshingly smart and self-possessed 16-year-old protagonist, and readers will fall in love with her leading man right along with her. But the romance, while as swoon-worthy and fluttery as you'd expect from a teen novel, is actually secondary to the book's deep messages about identity and controlling societies. This is an impressive and provoking start to what should be a fascinating series.

Divergent (Divergent Series) 2017-09-07

500 Divergent Summary In a futuristic, dystopian Chicago, society is organized into five factions. Each faction places value solely on a specific virtue, which its members work to cultivate throughout their lives. There is Abnegation, which values selflessness, Amity, which values peace, Erudite, which values knowledge, Candor, which values honesty, and Dauntless, which values bravery. Children are raised in their parents' faction, and once they turn sixteen, they have the option to choose for themselves which faction will be theirs for the rest of their lives, whether it's the one they grew up in or not. Beatrice Prior is a sixteen-year-old member of Abnegation. She and her brother Caleb, who is not quite a year her elder, take the aptitude test that will tell them which faction they are most suitable for. The test consists of a simulation of a confrontation with a vicious dog. Beatrice shows aptitude for three different factions, Abnegation, Erudite, and Dauntless, and this means she is something called Divergent. She is warned to never tell anyone of her results - it is dangerous to be Divergent. After much contemplation over whether to stay in Abnegation or switch factions, Beatrice chooses to switch to Dauntless, and Caleb moves to Erudite. In Dauntless, Beatrice changes her name to Tris because she feels it will allow her to start over and become someone else entirely. She makes quick friends with two Candor transfers named Christina and Al, and an Erudite transfer named Will, while three other Candor transfers, Peter, Drew, and Molly, become her enemies. Initiation into this courageous faction involves three stages, and they will be ranked after each one. Only the top ten initiates will become Dauntless members; the rest will fail out and become factionless, forced to live on the streets of the city in poverty. The first stage of initiation involves learning how to fight from their mysterious initiation instructor, Four, and one of the cruel Dauntless leaders, Eric. Because Tris is small, she isn't a particularly adept fighter, but she manages to get by. Tris earns the respect of many during the initiation tradition of capture the flag, in which she has the idea to climb to the top of a ferris wheel in order to see the other team's location. Four comes with her, and for the first time she realizes the feeling she gets when she's around him. She also earns Eric's respect when she volunteers to take a punishment meant for Al - standing in front of a target while Four throws knives around her. Visiting Day arrives, and Tris's mother comes to visit her in her new faction. She knows a suspicious amount about the Dauntless compound, which leads Tris to believe that her mother may have originally been Dauntless. She tells Tris to go visit Caleb in Erudite and tell him to research a simulation serum. Tris learns that Abnegation members are now prohibited from entering Erudite. Later that day, Al admits that he likes Tris as more than a friend, but she cannot return the sentiment. When they receive rankings for stage one, Tris is ranked sixth, and is not cut. Peter, however, is unsatisfied with his second place finish, and that night he stabs the first place initiate, Edward, in the eye, forcing him to leave initiation. As stages two and three of initiation commence, Tris begins to come into her own in Dauntless at last. She goes zip lining down from the Hancock building with the Dauntless-born initiates, shows extreme proficiency in fear simulations, and becomes closer to Four, who slowly starts to open up to her. But tension is brewing between two of the factions, Erudite and Abnegation, and Erudite continuously makes attacks on the Abnegation administration. Initiation is still the most pressing thing to worry about, though, and at the end of stage two she receives a shock; she's ranked number one. Considering her a threat, Peter and Drew attack her with the help of Al, who used to be her friend. Four rescues her before they kill her. Al is devastated with what he's done, and kills himself as a result. Four at last reveals to Tris his true identity: he is Tobias Eaton, son of abusive Abnegation council representative Marcus. At this point, they officially begin a secret relationship. After a bad day in training, Tris leaves the Dauntless compound without telling anyone. She goes to Erudite to pass on her mother's instructions to Caleb. There, she has a confrontation with Erudite leader Jeanine Matthews, who Tris suspects of colluding with Dauntless to kill the Divergent. When she returns to Dauntless, Tobias warns Tris that Erudite is planning a war against Abnegation and will use Dauntless to fight it. Initiation day comes, and Tris goes through her final assessment, a simulation containing each one of her fears that she must conquer, one after another. She's extremely successful and ranks first, becoming an official member of Dauntless. However,

Divergent (Divergent Series) (English) 2017-09-07

The Divergent trilogy is a series of young adult science fiction adventure novels by American novelist Veronica Roth set in a post-apocalyptic dystopian Chicago.[1] The trilogy consists of Divergent (2011), Insurgent (2012) and Allegiant (2013).[2][3] A related book, Four, presents a series of short stories told from the perspective of one of the trilogy's characters. The society of the trilogy defines its citizens by their social and personality-related affiliation with five different factions, which removes the threat of anyone exercising independent will and threatening the population's safety. Beatrice Prior, who later changes her name to Tris, an Abnegation-born and Dauntless transfer, must figure out her life as a Divergent, while concealing her true nature, and living with the danger of being killed if it is discovered by the Erudite and Dauntless leaders.[4]
